The sculptures are made from papier mache, using newspaper and paste. Many are finished with paper towels for texture or cut up gift wrap paper. Varnish is then applied to protect the work. The subjects are often animals and the goal is to show the main characteristic of the animal and also to create beauty in creatures that may not be considered beautiful, such as a scorpion.
